Hot Chocolate October Style

This post is for Missy, my niece.  She posted on Facebook tonight that she wanted some hot chocolate.  My post back to her was "Come on over. I make it like your mom. I'll make you some." Making homemade hot chocolate has been a tradition in our family for a very long time.  It might be enjoyed when the family gets together to go sledding in winter months, Christmas morning breakfast or because our own kids and grandchildren say "make us some."  I just happened to make some recently, so here you go Missy!

HOT CHOCOLATE


(Printable Recipe)


4 rounded tsp. cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
pinch of salt
3/4 cup hot water
3 1/4 cups whole milk
1 tsp. vanilla
marshmallows (optional)

Add cocoa...

sugar (I add a little more)...

hot water...

Bring to a boil, then stir, repeat two more times...

Add milk, vanilla and a personal choice...

Marshmallows!

Whisk and heat thoroughly.

A dollop of whipped cream is good too!
